Layouts and Custom Data Viewer

Now available in Beta for all users, Layouts allows you to get the perfect format for your user interface (UI) design. Included in Layouts is Custom Data Viewer! The best apps have a ton of beautifully organized dynamic data for their users to enjoy in the form of marketplaces, lists, scrollable content, and so much more!

What Does This Mean for You?

Want to replicate the look and feel of AirBnB or Instagram within your no code mobile app using columns and rows of data? With the released Layout component, now you can! 

Thunkable provides a variety of default Data Viewer List and Data Viewer Grid templates, but saving a customized Layout component as a Data Viewer allows the app to auto-populate with the necessary data into a neat layout. Even better, you can save your Layout and use it across multiple projects.

Who Is This Available To? 

We believe everyone should have the ability to build their own custom native mobile apps with powerful capabilities, so we are making this latest feature available to all our Creators.

Performance Improvement on Screens

We’re making working through your app at peak performance easier than ever. 

What Does This Mean for You?

Creators who would like to improve their speed and load time during their no code app creation process now can with the the ability to turn off preview for screens that aren’t actively being worked on. 

You can disable screen preview for projects with multiple screens to improve platform performance and load time. When enabled, the project only loads the screen you are actively working on while the other screens remain paused. You can still fully live-test your app to get a sense of the end-to-end user flow. 

To enable this app screen saving ability option, simply go to your Account, then Features, and hit the toggle button.

Who Is This Available To? 

Thunkable prioritizes the ease and comfort of building mobile apps, so this feature is available to all Thunkable Creators.

Custom Splash Screen

Greet your app users with a custom splash screen.

What Does This Mean for You?

Thunkable Creators now have the ability to customize their app’s splash screen, including animations and background colors, to show off a business logo and align with their brand guidelines. 

Thunkable Tip: Use a custom splash screen as a marketing opportunity to increase brand awareness and flash your logo.

Data Storage Options

Our Thunkable platform allows you to connect your no code mobile app to the following data sources: Google Sheets, AirTable, Webflow, or your own table. We have taken this up a level and are allowing Creators to select their preferred storage option. 

What Does This Mean for You?

With our latest update, you have the option to choose between a Stored or App Data Source. If data is altered while the app is open, with a Stored Data Source, the data within a table will remain unchanged when a user closes and reopens the app. However, with an App Data Source, the table’s data will reset, reducing the time it takes for the app to load on the user's device.

Thunkable’s User Interface Updates

The user interface (UI) for our platform has gotten a refresh to better accommodate our Creators.

What Does This Mean for You?

On the Thunkable platform, you will notice the latest organization of our Component tree and hierarchy, making it easier to locate and organize your active Components.

Save and Reuse Screens

Thunkable allows you to reuse a screen, and its associated blocks, in multiple projects. 

What Does This Mean for You?

Creators on the Business or Teams plan can save their screen, add their saved screen to another project, and view all their saved screens in one area. You can save the screen, including UI design and block functions, then import it to any of your other projects. This new feature speeds up development time and assists with your ability to share custom-built functionality across your entire team’s accounts.
